Police launch manhunt for gay suspects after raids of flashpoint in Ogun

The Ogun State Police Command said it has commenced a serious manhunt for some individuals alleged to be involved in the outlawed same sex practice in the state.

The said suspects now on the run were identified as ‘our lovers’ by some persons caught in the act of homosexuality during police raids of flashpoints in the state including a notorious nightclub on Aiyegbami Street, Ago iwoye area of Abeokuta, Ogun State capital, in July 2022.

The Public Relations Officer for Ogun State Police Command SP Omolola Odutola disclosed this to our correspondent during exclusive chat in Abeokuta, Thursday, May 25, 2023.

“Our operatives caught four suspects in the act inside two rooms in the nightclub, 13 others were also apprehended, others escaped from the facility.

“After thorough screening and profiling, nine were lawfully detained, they have made confessional statements, and are helping in our investigation”, SP Omolola Odutola stated.

The police spokesperson further explained that with the cooperation of the nine suspects, two out of the five fleeing suspects on police list of most wanted gay syndicates operating in the state have been arrested, charged accordingly and remanded in prison custody.

He however gave the names of the wanted suspects as Ahmed Bada, Samuel Dino Robinson and Adeegbe Olaoluwa Sunday.

“Our investigation revealed that as I speak with you, those three suspects have fled Nigeria. Samuel Dino Robinson is in neighbouring Benin Republic, Ahmed Bada and Adeegbe Olaoluwa Sunday escaped to Europe under the guise of studying in United kingdom.

“We have searched and recovered exhibits from their apartments which revealed that they are both bisexuals. Their parents, relatives and other law enforcement agencies across Nigeria have been duly notified. More information about them and their accomplices will be shared as we gather intelligence.

“Obviously you know they cannot run forever, they will return someday and will be made to answer for their crimes. The ongoing onslaught against same-sex practice is total and continuous. Same-sex is against our laws, customs, traditions, religion and culture as a nation”, the police spokesman maintained.

SP Omolola stated that intelligence reports revealed that some high-profile Nigerians are members of various gay syndicates operating across Nigeria.

He warned that anyone who indulges in same-sex activities risks 14 years imprisonment on conviction.
