2019 Polls: 20m Igbos pledge support for Atiku/Obi, Gov Ishaku in Taraba

Ahead of 2019 general elections, Igbo sons and daughters resident in Taraba, Northeast Nigeria have pledged to vote massively for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential flag bearer, Atiku Abubakar and his Vice, Peter Obi.
A Jalingo based building materials merchant, Chief Uchenna Obidukwu stated this while speaking with journalists in Jalingo at the secretariat of 20 Million Igbos for Atiku/Obi and Taraba Governor, Darius Ishaku.
Uche Obi, who is the founder of 20 Million Igbos Campaign Organization for Atiku/Obi and Ishaku in Taraba State said he is actively committed to the campaign, hence the need to donate one storey-building as its secretariat in Jalingo.
The secretariat, named, “Unity House” aims at uniting and mobilizing all Igbos in the State for Atiku/Obi and Governor Ishaku come 2019 elections.
According to him, about N20 million has been set aside to mobilize Igbos across the 16 LGAs and two Special Development Areas.
He noted that the choice of the former Vice President as Nigeria leader come 2019 was because “Atiku being the nation’s former Vice President has the experience, and a successful businessman who knows how to manage the economy of the Country.
“Atiku’s choice for Peter Obi as his running mate is a gesture Igbos mustn’t fail to reciprocate”, he said.
“Our quest for Atiku is that he will help liberate our Country from economic backwardness and other social vices that have bedevilled the economy of Nigeria”, said Uche Obi.
Chief Obi further disclosed that Igbos in Taraba will not go anywhere rather, will remain resolute in the State to cast their Votes for all PDP Candidates.
He admitted that Igbos used to run away during elections for safety of their lives, describing the scenario as a mistake of the past.
“Igbos don’t run for nothing. The fact remains that when there is problem in any part of the State, Igbos and their properties are always the target”, he said.
He also opined that they will vote Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku for the second tenure in office, stated because of his peace initiatives across the Taraba State.
In his remarks, the Coordinator, 20 Million Igbos for Atiku/Obi in the Northern States, Chief Obi Chris said the Organisation will pull about 700,000 voters for Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi and Darius Dickson Ishaku in 2019 elections.
Chief Obi Chris however, called on all Igbos to be mindful of the Peace they are enjoying in Taraba State, courtesy of Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku.
“During the time to cast votes, don’t leave here, stay and cast your votes to reciprocate the gesture”, he pleaded.
