Reps urge FG to flush out bandits, enable farmers return to farmland

The House of Representatives has urged the Federal Government to direct the Joint Security Task Force stationed in Benue State, to initiate full coordinated security operations by flushing bandits out of the state to allow farmers return to their farmlands for adequate food production of food in the country.

Reps to suspend airport concession

The House of Representatives has taken steps to suspend concession of Airports in the country, and resolved to launch full investigation into the programme.

The decision followed adoption of a motion moved by Rep Kama Nkemkanma at plenary on Wednesday.

Nkemkanma said the most viable airports in the country were commissioned to foreign firms through the former President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Executive Council resolutions that deviated from due process, public accountability, and established laws of the land.

Subsidise  transportation to ease high cost of fuel, oil marketers urge FG

Major Oil Marketers Association of Nigeria (MOMAN) has urged the Federal Government to subsidise transportation to cushion the harsh impacts of the removal of subsidy on Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) otherwise called fuel, which has skyrocketed the pump price.

MOMAN said this at a Zoom workshop with journalists, as it also called for the effective and sustainable implementation of the gains from subsidy removal.

Senate wants FG to consider concessions in funding road construction

The Senate on Wednesday, urged the Federal Government to consider concessions as means of funding road infrastructure across the country.

The Senate also set up an ad-hoc committee to come up with a compendium of all the affected federal roads and erosion sites across the country either awarded, but abandoned by contractors or had not been awarded at all, to be forwarded to the executive arm for urgent intervention.

FRSC bans from operating on state roads nationwide 

The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) has been banned from operating on state and local government roads across the country by the court of appeals in Asaba.

The Court of Appeal in Asaba, Delta State, upheld the judgment of a lower court banning the FRSC) from operating on state and local roads in the country.

A Federal High Court in the state had, in 2019, held that the FRSC has no legal right to operate or carry out any activity on roads belonging to states and local government areas.

LASG apprehends fake enforcement personnel

In line with the Lagos State Government’s efforts to sanitize the transport sector against individuals parading themselves as government enforcement Personnel, some fake enforcement personnel have been apprehended at different parts of Agege area of Lagos by the Lagos State Task Force in collaboration with the Transport Operations Compliance Unit of the Ministry of Transportation for illegal enforcement operations.

The fake enforcers paraded at the Ministry of Transportation named; Olayinka Daniel, Shola Babarinde and Ilesanmi were reported by a Motorist who claimed they had forcefully gained access to his vehicle and accused him of not having a Stage Carriage Permit. He further explained that he was asked to pay N15,500 despite having other vehicle documents.

Equities market rebounds, up 0.27% to gain N94.46bn

The equities market of the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) rebounded after pullback recorded at the previous session, as the market gained 0.27 per cent to close at N34.81trillion.

Specifically, the benchmark Index appreciated by 0.27 per cent to close at 63,930.72 points, while the market capitalization rose by N94.46billion to close at N34.81trillion.

Fuel contamination: NCAA intensifies probe, partners FAAN, NMDPRA, others to stop recurrence

Worried about the recent incidence of a safety breach where water was found in the fuel tanks of some aircraft, the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has deepened its investigation into the incident with the view to establish the root cause of it.

The NCAA has also announced wide consultation with all relevant stakeholders to identify the gaps, close them, prevent future occurrences, and improve safety in the industry.
