The FCT Police command on Friday admitted embattled Senator representing Adamawa North Senatorial District, Elisha Abbo who assaulted a nursing mother in a sex toy shop bail on self-recognition.

Bala Ciroma, the FCT Commissioner of Police who confirmed Abbo’s release on bail said that the investigation on the incident is ongoing.

According to him, both the Senator and the victim have been interrogated.

On how long the investigation was likely to take before prosecution, the FCT CP said the police was focused on carrying out a thorough investigation and therefore should not be stampeded.

Sources privy to the ongoing investigations revealed that the police are trying to ascertain what originally sparked the quarrel that degenerated into the abuse of the victim as captured on CCTV.

The embattled Senator had on Thursday submitted himself for interrogation.

Daily Times recalls that Abbo had also tendered an unreserved apology to Nigerians and his victim over the maltreatment before voluntarily presenting himself to the Police following the directive of the Inspector General of Police for his immediate arrest and investigation.
