Abia PDP declares Governorship, other positions contestable

The state working committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Abia State, rising from its meeting held at the party secretariat has declared all political offices for the 2019 general election in the state open and contestable in line with the Abia Charter of Equity and the party’s zoning formula.

Addressing newsmen after the state party NEC meeting, the state Chairman of the party, Sir Johnson Onuigbo disclosed that of the office of the state governor is also inclusive.

In line with the above therefore, the party restated their assurance that “there shall be level playing ground for all aspirants irrespective of the position”, while resolving also to do away with all manner of impositions and impunity.

The SWC also passed a vote of implicit confidence on Governor Okezie Ikpeazu based on his excellent performances so far, as well as a vote of implicit confidence on the state chairman of the party, Sir Johnson Onuigbo, for his transparency and effective leadership.

The SWC urged all party faithful “to remain loyal, steadfast and continue to have confidence in the party leadership”, reiterating the supremacy of the party as contained in the constitution of the party.

Fielding questions from newsmen later, the state PDP chairman, Sir Johnson Onuigbo, assured Abians that the State PDP SWC was not under any pressure to pass any vote of confidence on the governor or on himself.
