Association of Anambra State Development Unions (AASDU), Lagos has passed vote of confidence on Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, for spreading his administrative policy across facet of humanity, especially the indigent in the state.
The vote of confidence came during the 2017 Cultural Day Celebration, held at the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos State.
The celebration attracted 179 registered communities residing in Lagos State, richly adorned in cultural attires, including various cultural displays.
Governor Obiano, who arrived amidst dignitaries and traditional rulers, exchanged pleasantries with the members of the communities on arrival.
Delivering his address, President AASDU, Lagos, Barrister Vincent Osakwe, said one of the motives of the association was to unify and propagate the cultural heritage of Anambra indigenes within and outside Lagos State.
His words: “This is a forum where all matters and issues concerning the affairs of Ndi Anambra are discussed and handled. It is also an avenue for disseminating information to Ndi Anambra in Lagos state.
“His Excellency, Chief Willie Obiano, we wish to use this opportunity to thank you immensely for your giant strides towards protection of lives and property in Anambra State.
“Before you came into office, our people were sleeping with one eyes open. Our people were giving their daughters out in marriages in Lagos for fear of kidnappers.
“But now, our people can come home in peace. Night life has returned to Anambra State. You have really done well and we ask you to sustain the good works you have stated.
“All these good works resulted in passing vote of confidence on your administration and we pledge to support you to achieve your second term dream”.
Reacting, Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, said his administration would continue paying maximum attention in agricultural sector to sustain the economic tempo achieved so far through exportation of agricultural produce.
The governor emphasised that the ongoing construction of an airport city in the state would give business respite to Ndi Anambra – Lagos – based – businessmen in conveying their goods to east.
“We have started the construction of an international airport in Anambra. It will be the largest cargo airport in Africa with modern global facilities. It will save you the problem of importing goods through Lagos, you will go through Anambra airport.
“This will reduce unnecessary charges from custom and embarrassment from other security agencies. It will rather add value to our economic production,” Obiano pointed.
The governor observed that his administration had so far employed 330,000 youths in different job creations, urging the Anambra youths in Lagos to form different cooperatives to benefit from the agricultural revolution his administration had embarked.
“I inherited N127.5 billion debt from my predecessor. Out of these were from 100 roads awarded. We have paid over N26 billion and have completed 50 roads.
“I will continue on the premise of continuity to give equal rights and opportunity to people, especially the poor and disabled people in the state,” Obiano noted.
