We have role to play, Minister urges all as he takes over Ministry

Minister, Federal Ministry of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, (FMSDIA) Zephaniah Bitrus Jisalo has urged the Permanent Secretary, Directors, Staff and Agencies under it to put hands on deck, so they can achieve together.

He said they all have role to play in moving the Ministry and the nation forward since they will work for the benefit of Nigerians and bring to reality, the mandate of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in his dream of ‘New Hope’ for the country.

Jisalo stated these in his office yesterday in Abuja, when he went to assume duty as Minister, after inauguration at the Presidential Villa, Abuja by President Tinubu.

He said: “Permanent Secretary, Directors’ and Staff, we shall bring our knowledge and contribute together as no one has monopoly of knowledge, so, every one has a role to play.
We will continue tomorrow as we will always smile together.”

The Minister who was accompanied by his wife, Mrs Lorreta Jisalo and his special aides and party faithfuls stormed the Ministry headquarters at exactly 1.55 and recieved by the Permanent Secretary, Mrs Ibiene P Roberts, Directors, Staff and Executive Secretaries of Agencies under the Ministries.

“I am the man of the moment as the first Federal Capital Territory indegene to become Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, which is a welcome development for all of us.

“I want to assure you that this is a family because as I come in today, so shall I leave, one day, as a politician.

“I will do my duty in accordance with rules, guided by law so that we can achieve together.

“I am ready to teach you and you will also, teach me so we can learn from each other. Remember, I am a teacher, so, I will hear from your Directors, so that private sectors can be accommodated for more development,” he stated.

In her welcome address, Mrs Robert’s noted that as a one time chairman of the Abuja Cosmopolitan Municipal Area Council and member, House of Representatives, 7th and 8th Assembly who excelled in different capacities, a trailblazer, the very first son of the soil of the FCT to be appointed Minister, Mr President didnt make a mistake of his choice, to interface with other tiers of government.

“Management and staff of this great Ministry are glad to welcome you to this formidable team, whose sole obligation is ensuring the Ministry achieves its mandate.

“We also, Express our profound gratitude to President Tinubu for giving us an astute achiever to pilot Affairs of our great Ministry.”

The Permanent Secretary also, outlined mandates of the Ministry to the Minister which includes, managing key projects and institutions of the Presidency and coordinating multi agencies and other Inter-Ministry functions, as directed by the President, among others.

Jisalo was born on April 3rd, 1970. A politician who represented Abuja Municipal/Bwari Constituency at the Federal House of Representatives, Abuja.

He started his early education at Garki Primary School, Abuja, graduating with a First School Leaving Certificate, (FSLC) and proceeded to the Government Sevondary School, Karu, Abuja where he obtained his WAEC GCE result.

He proceeded to the University of Jo’s, Plataeu State where he obtained a Bachelors Degree in Education.

Hon Jisalo also, obtained an Advanced Diploma in Applied Psychology and Diploma in Criminal Justice and Administration at the University of Jos, Plateau State.

He further attended the Institute of Mass Communication and Technology where he earned a Diploma in Public Relations at the Thames Valley University in London, UK, where he studied Government Policies, Planning and Implementation.

He briefly worked with the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC) between 1990 and 2002 and was elected Chairman, Abuja Municipal Area Council, (AMAC) in 2004 and reelected in 2007.

In 2011, Hon Jisalo was elected into the Federal House of Representatives to represent Abuja Municipal/Bwari Constituency. During this period he served in the following House Committees; Sports, NDDC, Defense, Customs & Excise, Appropriations, and National Security.
