Orire blasts Fayose over call for Buhari’s resignation

… says Buhari has not Breached Constitution over ill health
A medical practitioner and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress(APC) in Ekiti State, Dr Bayo Orire has lambasted Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose over his call on the President Muhammadu Buhari to resign for his failing health.
Orire who spoke in a chat with reporters in Ado-Ekiti Yesterday insisted Buhari has no reason to resign his position over ill-health, saying ill health could not be counted as an unconditional condition for the President to resign.
The APC chieftain who noted that there wasn’t any medical advice from experts to confirm
that President Buhari is infirmed to warrant the calls for his resignation, added saying such agitation can only arise if Acting President Yemi Osinbajo is not living up to the tasks of his office.
Fayose had while reviewing Buhari’s performance at a press conference in Lagos on Tuesday advised that the president should resign honourably over his failing health, and having allegedly failed to deliver on his electioneering promises to Nigerians.
But reacting to Fayose’s harsh position, Orire insisted that governance has not suffered since President Buhari jetted out of the country to London on medical vacation, describing the Acting President Osinbajo as performing the tasks of governance to the admiration of all
Nigerians.
“Well, this is not the first time Governor Fayose would call for the president’s resignation. He had even wished him dead more than any other Nigerian. Governor Fayose went as far as to China to tell them not to grant Buhari’s loan request, so the hatred is there.
“The President might be sick, but the system is working, the civil service and other arms of government are active and operating, so this request was just an opinion that has no basis in law and intent. President Buhari is sick but not incapacitated, so our governor should
read the constitution very well.
“Acting President Osinbajo and other tested Ministers are performing the tasks of governance, so the request is frivolous and baseless”.
He said President Buhari is heading a government that is correcting the ills meted to Nigeria’s economy for 16 years, clarifying that his efforts will take some times to start manifesting on the lives of the citizens.
“Under President Goodluck Jonathan, some people were alleged to have stolen as much as $1 billion dollars, so the economy was in comatose before President Buhari came. But let me say this, with the giant strides the government is making in anti-corruption war and
insurgency, things will surely change for better”, he said.
