Israel allows fans back to top two football divisions

Fans are allowed back in limited numbers to attend football matches in the top two divisions in Israel from the weekend onwards, provided they have been coronavirus vaccinated.

An Israel football federation spokesman confirmed the decision in which fans will prove they have been vaccinated via the nation’s green passport.

The return of fans will be in small numbers though.

This will be with up to 1,500 allowed into stadiums with a capacity of more than 10,000, and 750 into others amid strict hygiene and safety rules.

Hapoel Tel Aviv is among the teams playing Saturday, saying on their home page “welcome back, dear fans.”

They said tickets can only be purchased online and will be exclusively for season ticket-holders from last season.

Israel, which has had a very successful vaccination campaign over the past weeks, two weeks ago allowed fans back to amateur games.
