Ife clash: No reprisal attack’ll be unleashed on Yorubas in North, says Kwankanso

Yorubas living in the North have been assured that northerners would not launch reprisal attack on them in retaliation to the Ile-Ife communal clash.

The Senator representing Kano Central, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, on Tuesday said this when visited the Sabo area of Ile-Ife on Tuesday.

Recall that Sabo was the area where the crisis ensued between Yoruba and Hausa in the ancient town last week.

Addressing journalists after the meeting the Hausas, Kwankwaso said his visit was intended to assess the situation.

He said, “My people will not launch reprisal attack. The purpose of my coming here is to appeal to my people to continue to be law abiding.

“I told them that when I get home, the Kwankwasiya Foundation will go and sit down and by next week, we will send our own support.”

He asked the Hausas to remain calm and cooperate with concerned stakeholders to settle the crisis and forestall future reoccurrences.

On his part, Governor Rauf Aregbesola advised the leader of the Hausa community not abhor those he called “hoodlums” responsible for the clash.

He noted that the perpetrators from the Yoruba community have been arrested.

On the entourage are senator representing Osun East Senatorial District, Babajide Omoworare and other personalities.
