Ekiti cannot continue to be fooled by Fayose again, says Osinkolu

Following the boasting of Governor, Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State that his political family will continue to dominate the political space of Ekiti State after the 2018 governorship poll, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Olusegun Osinkolu, has described the boasting as empty and unrealizable, saying Ekiti people cannot
continue to be fooled by Fayose every time.

He noted that though Fayose had succeeded in fooling the people of Ekiti in the past, but added that “Ekiti people are wiser now, and so can no longer remain under the bondage of Fayose again.

Osinkolu insisted that Ekiti citizens reserve the rights to freely choose who should govern them , saying all lovers of democracy and development will frustrate the spirited efforts of the governor to foist his stooge on the people to continue alleged looting of the treasury.

Fayose had while addressing members of the private sectors and non-indigenes, on Sunday said the reason why Lagos State is progressing was principally because those governing the State were from Senator Bola Tinubu’s political family, boasting that he (Fayose) will take such roots in the state, even as he preaches continuity.

The senatorial aspirant who said this in Ado Ekiti , on Tuesday in a reaction to Fayose’s comment that Ekiti should allow subsequent governors to emerge from his political family, condemned Fayose’s postulation on the premise that the governor lacks the required qualities with deep administrative astuteness and acumen to pilot the
affairs of the State the way Tinubu did in Lagos.

“Senator Tinubu has been identified in Nigeria as a pathfinder in administration. When he was in the saddle in Lagos, Tinubu groomed competent hands that can effectively govern even better than him after leaving office in 2007 and that was why he brought former Governor Babatunde Fashola and the whole world could attest to
Fashola’s achievements in Lagos.

“After Fashola, Akinwumi Ambode came on board and he is doing wonder.The question to ask now is, Does Fayose have such competent hands in his government that he has groomed to take over in 2018?

“What we have in Ekiti today is a 72-year old illiterate Carpenter being installed as a council chairman. Fayose did that in Moba local government last year. If you consider the configuration of the State House of Assembly, over 15 out of the 26 members were school certificate holders in a state with over 300,000 unemployed graduates.

“Though, I quite appreciate the fact that constitution allows School certificate Holders to hold political offices, but would they be able to march the achievements of somebody like Fashola and Ambode, who were Senior Advocate of Nigeria and Chartered Accountants respectively?

“For Governor Fayose to be able to achieve such, he must stop his anti-intellectual disposition and I believe it is too late for him to do such because he is already at the twilight of his administration”, he said.
