Senate Commends Nigerian Armed Force Over Boko Haram

The Nigerian Senate on Tuesday showered encomiums on the Nigerian Armed Forces for their bravery and recent successes in combating the Boko Haram insurgents.

During its plenary meeting, the Senate President, David Mark, expressed his satisfaction with the gallantry of the Nigerian Armed Forces and asked the Senate Committee on Armed Forces to send the message of the lawmakers across to the soldiers.

“We must commend the Armed Forces for proving that they are worthy of the regional forces that they have earned”, Mr. Mark said. “We also thank those countries like Niger and Cameroon for their courage.

“We also like to thank ECOWAS as well but most importantly, we must commend our boys and girls on the field”.

The Senator representing Borno South Senatorial District, Ali Ndume, also expressed his happiness with the government and the Armed Forces.

“I travelled from Abuja to Maiduguri by road and there is a huge difference from what it was six months ago”, Mr. Ndume said. “We have been crying out for the government to do something and I am proud of the Armed Forces”.

Speaking in the same vein, Senator representing Imo East Senatorial District, Chris Anyawu, commended the Armed Forces.

“It took time for Nigerians to be able to persuade our neighbours to help us fight but now, things have changed”, she said.

“Political parties are now able to speak out which is how it should be and that has boosted the morale of the land”.

The Nigerian military, with help from its Chadian, Nigerien and Cameroonian counterparts have been combatting the Boko Haram insurgents since February with appreciable level of success.
