Ogoni Clean Up: Oil firm to revamp community

A Nigerian based oil company, ‘Robomichael’ has demonstrated commitment to revamp the Ogoni community hitherto ravaged by oil spillage wish has caused both social and economic activities to die down.

In a forum facilitated by a Non Governmental Organisation (NGO), Global Entrepreneurship City Network, the gathering seeks to reposition the ailing community into a mega city.

Spokesperson for the NGO, Mr. Good Luck Ziidee, in a statement, made available to our correspondent in Jos said the intention of Robomichael (an oil firm) in Ogoni is aimed at rebuilding the once abandoned community.

He said, “Robomichael has provided one of the best template for developing the Ogoni land, this has not been so with other companies that has indicated interest to do business in Ogoni: the most interesting part for us, is their move to partner with foreign organisations to empower our youths via a sustainable youth developmental projects”.

Ziidee said the opportunity provided by Robomichael company call for unity amongst the Ogoni people as it will help all the Local Government Councils under Ogoni to articulate their needs and present them for onward action.

He called on waring faction to bury their differences and pursue a common goal for a holistic development.

“We plead with the youths, elders, and other interest group in Ogoni to speak with one voice, appreciating the leadership of the Movement for the Survival of Ogoni People (MOSOP), for their maturity and non violent approach to the Ogoni problem”.

Daily Times reports that the Oil firm, Robomichael, held an extensive dialogue with the group Survival of Ogoni People (MOSOP) for an essay entrance into the region.
