A non-governmental organisation, Coalition of Abia Concerned Citizens in Nigeria, on Monday, said the state needs complete liberation for it to come out of its political bondage come 2019.
The group’s leader, Chief Ugochukwu Ononogbu, who stated this in an interview with newsmen in Umuahia, said Abia State is nothing to write home about considering its 27 years of creation.
According to the coalition leader, the problem of god-fatherism has subjected her and the people to untold hardship compared to Ebonyi State that was created 21 years ago.
She said that Abia State has been unlucky since creation in terms of governance, pointing out that unless the political class changes attitude, the state will continue to witness more setbacks.
Chief Ononogbu observed that the two and half years of the present administration there is nothing tangible to point at, just as he said that what happened in 2015 general election will not repeat itself come 2019.
Also speaking while accessing the All Progressives led-administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, the coalition leader blamed former President Goodluck Jonathan administration for celebrated corruption even when it was glaring that those around him were all involved including State Governors, saying it was the rot of yesterday that APC government was fighting today.
He described Nigeria as progressive nation despite perceived feelers in so many quarters, stressing that as an advocate of change, the Buhari’s government should be given support to enable it move to the next level and commended him for his policies aimed at turning around Nigeria for better.
On the recent IPOB/Army clash in Abia State, Chief Ononogbu described activities of the group as childish, noting that restructuring of Nigeria at present was not the answer to the problem because the bigger we are as Nigeria, the better, saying proscribing IPOB as a terrorist group was a welcome development.
