28 Nigerian delegates absent at ECOWAS parliamentary session

The absence of 28 Nigerian delegates at the ongoing ECOWAS Parliament, has again generated a lot of concerns among Members of Parliaments, who believed Nigeria’s non commitment is becoming worrisome.

The Nigerian Delegation Presented their country report on Friday in Abuja, with only Five members on seat, while others merely put up appearance, leaving after a short while.

Although, this isn’t the first time Nigeria is recording reasonable absence at the parliament, barely 10 MPs were present throughout the last ordinary session,in May 2018.

The issue again was raised by MPs from other countries during the plenary.

Amongst the Parliamentarians present during the presentation of country report, was Hon. Shehu Garba, Hon. Asante Vilita Bashir and Hon Garba Idris Kontagora, while Hon. Stella Odua briefly attended the session before abruptly leaving.

Hon.Shehu Garba Sarkin Noma, who defended his colleagues before other MPs, said the low turnout should be excused because of their involvement in activities of the election period.
