Yilwatda: There’s no vacancy in Aso Rock, APC will retain power in 2027

Nentawe Yilwatda, national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), says President Bola Tinubu will retain power beyond 2027, declaring that there is “no vacancy” in Aso Rock.

Yilwatda spoke on Tuesday when he received members of the APC League of Professionals on a solidarity visit at the party’s national secretariat, Buhari House, Abuja.

He expressed confidence in the party’s chances, saying the opposition—including the African Democratic Congress (ADC)—will fail in their bid to unseat Tinubu in the next general election.

He said the gains recorded under the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Tinubu administration had set a strong foundation for victory in 2027.

Yilwatda, a professor of engineering from Plateau State, also assured that all APC candidates contesting for governorship, national, and state assembly seats would emerge victorious.

He described himself as a bridge between generations and pointed to Tinubu’s student loan policy and other empowerment schemes as evidence of meaningful impact.

“The child of the poorest man in Nigeria can now go to school to the peak, without borrowing. The government has made provision for that,” he said.

“This is the only time we are having, in the history of Nigeria, this arrangement in our tertiary institutions. The government has also dropped N1.5 billion into the Bank of Agriculture, BOA, to support young men who want to go into agriculture.

“Never before have we had this opportunity. We have the youth fund being given for the youth. Never before has any government done this. And I can tell you that the opportunity for the young people is right under our president.”

Yilwatda said the party’s manifesto was designed for young professionals and that the APC leadership would work with them to secure a total victory in the 2027 elections.

“Our manifesto targets people like you, and I look forward to working with you to ensure that 2027 will deliver the president, governors, senators, House of Assembly, and State Assembly members,” he said.

“What I can tell you is a thank you for this support, a thank you for standing by our party, and a thank you for believing in this party.”

Earlier, Marlin Daniel, leader of the visiting group and pioneer secretary of the APC in Bayelsa, said Yilwatda would lead the party into a new phase of development.

He also thanked President Tinubu and the Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum, Hope Uzodinma, for backing Yilwatda’s emergence as party chairman.
