Vigilante group to re-position Ogun State Command for effective performance

Worried by the crisis that is facing the Ogun State command of Vigilante Group of Nigeria, the South West Zonal Commander of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN), Assistant Commander General Emmanuel Enitan has inaugurated a-24 man Central Working Committee that would look into the crisis.

Enitan, who performed the inauguration in Abeokuta, during the Annual General Meeting of the Ogun State command of VGN charged members of the committee to visit all the aggrieved parties in the command with the aim of finding lasting solutions to the crisis rocking the command.

While agreeing that there is leadership crisis in the Ogun State command, he noted that the command has not been in order for the past 10 years, positing that many erring officers of the command had been shown the way out because of indiscipline and gross misconduct.

He said, “the major goal of the CWC is to find peace and harmony among men and officers of the command”, warning that VGN would not entertain any form of indiscipline from any member.

“We will not entertain anything that can put Ogun State backward in VGN. Nobody can draw Ogun State command of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria backward including myself because VGN does not belong to anybody”, Enitan said.

“The main duty of the newly inaugurated Central Working Committee is to enter into discussion and dialogue with all aggrieved parties in the Ogun State command of the VGN to find lasting solution to crisis rocking the command”.

Enitan enjoined all aggrieved parties in the command to feel free to interact with the committee so that their grievance would be looked into and addressed accordingly.

Speaking on the synergy between the VGN and other security agents in the state, Enitan said there is a good working relationship between them, stressing that they always contact one another whenever the need arises.

On community policing, he noted that the VGN encourages community participation in the security of their neighbourhood, pointing out the VGN encourages community to bring out their youths for training on security matter for easy work and scrutiny of their environment, emphasising that they know their community better than other people.
