Two arraigned in court for theft, bribery

 

Two men, were yesterday arraigned before a Lagos State Magistrate Court sitting in Ikeja for allegedly stealing a NITEL underground cable valued at N5million.

 

The defendants, Ibrahim Sais, Taofeek Babatunde and others at large were arraigned on a three count charge bordering on theft.

 

According to the charges, Ibrahim and Taofeek also allegedly offered police detectives over N400,000 to evade arrest.

 

The defendants were said to have committed the offences around 2pm on August 15, 2016 in Ikeja.

 

They however, pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against them.

 

The defence counsels, Barr. E.K Dada and Barr Kayode applied for the bail of the defendants and there was no objection from the prosecutor, Police Inspector Simeon Imhonwa.

The presiding Judge, Magistrate. Bola Osunsanmi granted them bail in the sum of N500,000 each with two sureties.

 

The matter was adjourned till November 02, 2016 for mention.
