Tanker owners resume operations

The Nigerian Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO) announced on Tuesday the resumption of its operations after a two-day hiatus, following a stakeholder meeting.

Alhaji Yusuf Lawal Othman, the national president, disclosed this development in Abuja, following discussions with key figures including Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, and representatives from various petroleum bodies.

The meeting also saw an agreement on the adjustment of the freight rate for Premium Motor Spirit (petrol ).

Some analysts fear that the resumption of operations may translate to higher fuel pump prices as the federal authorities approved increase in freight rate for the association.

The association had announced a halt in the lifting of petroleum products starting from last Monday citing rising operational cost.
