Sports development: Anambra leads, other states follow
Anambra State government has been identified as the only state in the country that has recorded landmark achievements in sports and youths development.
The Public Relations officer of Bullet Drinks Company, Anthony Uche Kalu, revealed this Tuesday at a press briefing at the Ministry of Youth Entrepreneurship and Sports Development, Awka.
Mr. Kalu stated that the company had expressed readiness to partner with Anambra State government on grassroots sports development, especially on boxing.
He noted that his company had provided 150 boxing equipment, worth over N 3.5 million, adding that the essence was to develop that aspect of sport in the state.
He further stressed that the partnership on boxing would cut across the 36 state saying Anambra was the first to tap into the huge opportunity.
In her reaction, the Commissioner for Youths Entrepreneurship and Sports Development, Barr Uju Nwogu, observed that the present administration had taken sport development to global recognition.
Barr Nwogu maintained that Anambra athletes had been leading in different sports competitions and had returned home with gold, silver and bronze medals within and outside the state, adding that the state would represent the country in chess competition in Tunisia.
