Renewed boko haram fight unbearable – LG vice chairman
The Vice chairman of Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa State, Mr Thomas Feaku, said that sustained killing by insurgents in the area is becoming unbearable.
Feaku told a delegation of ECOWAS parliament and United Nations High Commission for Refugee (UNHCR) who visited the area that the latest attack was the killing of five people in Kaya village.
Feaku said such attack has become a daily affair in the area for the past two months.
“Since December, Boko Haram attacks have been daily affairs in this area; for instance we have attacks in Mildu village were two people were killed. There was also the attack in Pallam village were three people were killed,” Feaku said.
He urged for more deployment of troops and support to local hunters to contain the security challenge, adding that many people have started leaving their villages for fear of attack.
The village head of Gulak, Alhaji Bello Tsimda, also lamented over the attacks pointing out that returnee villagers have started living the area.

“Government must do something or we will be forced to surrender to the insurgents to save our lives,” Tsimda said.
In her remarks, leader of the ECOWAS parliament team, Mrs Asabe Bashir, said the team in collaboration with UNHCR were on tour of areas affected by insurgency for interaction with affected communities.
Bashir said the interaction would provide them the opportunity to know the major challenges facing the people and the best way to assist them.
