Real reasons Abdullahi was sacked as NPA MD

Fresh insights into the high level machinations that led to the ouster last week of Mallam Habib Abdullahi as the managing director of Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has emerged.
According to a very reliable source, his involvement in the ongoing ‘multi-million Dollar’ feud between Onne based Integrated Logistics Services (Intels) and Lagos-based Lagos Deep Offshore Logistics (LADOL) is a major reason why he was showed the door.
This was corroborated by the man himself few days before he was removed. He alluded that the $3.8billion Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO)project; otherwise known as Egina project, which was awarded to Samsung Heavy Industry (SHI) in 2013 to build a world class oil production platform in Nigeria with LADOL acting as the local content partner is the major factor responsible for the on-going face-off between Intels and LADOL. ‘’The contract is at the centre of the dispute. This is a private project. An open bid was conducted. A winner emerged. The idea of if I don’t get it nobody else will is wrong”.
How can you say all Oil & Gas related cargoes must go to a particular place? You say a particular place is not suitable for a particular project, yet, you are putting up investment at that location for a similar project?
It is also a known fact in the maritime industry that there is no love lost between Abdullahi and the transport minister Rotimi Amaechi.
For instance, when the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for port operators was launched in Abuja about a month ago, it was only the MD of NPA that did not come, even though the SOP impacts on NPA more than any other stakeholder.
Even the following day when the minister was to appear on a programme on Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Habib still didn’t show up, even though he had instructions to. There and then the Minister could no longer hold himself; he told those around that he would report the MD to President Buhari.
He was reported to have turned to the executive director from NPA sent by Abdullahi to represent him and said: Tell your MD, I am going to see the President about him (Habib), it is either I am the Minister or I am not”.
Recall that Abdullahi was earlier sacked by ex-President Goodluck Jonathan but was re-instated by President Muhammadu Buhari.
