Police arrest cultist wanted for the murder of 22 persons in Lagos

The leader of a terror gang, Abiodun Abbey, alleged to have killed 22 persons in the Ikorodu area of Lagos, have been arrested by operatives of the Lagos State Police Command.
The suspect, popularly known as “Oju Ogunle” was arrested alongside 55 other cultists, cum armed robbery suspects in Imota, Igbokuta, Adamo, and Emure, all in Ikorodu and Ibeju-Lekki.
According to the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), who confirmed the arrest, two of the suspects, were alleged to be wives of Aye kingpins in Igbokuta and Emure.
He said the suspects were arrested by the Commissioner of Police Strike Force Team and operatives from the Elemoro Police Division.
Adejobi in a breakdown of the arrests said: “Some of the suspects include; Oladunni Abiodun, 20, Dosumu Oluwaseun, 22, Segun Adelaja, 29, Gbamila Iyabo, 26, wife of the Number one of Aye Confraternity in Igbokuta, arrested with one pump action loaded with 8 rounds of cartridges.
“Salisu Islamiyat, 29, wife of the Number one of Aye Confraternity in Emure, arrested with a locally-made pistol with some live cartridges, Abiodun Abbey, alias Oju Ogunle, alleged to have killed more than 22 people in Ikorodu area, and 44 others.”
Daily Times reports that items recovered from the suspects are guns, live ammunition, and cartridges, assorted charms, berets with Confraternity logos, paraphernalia of office of Confraternity, and some dangerous weapons.
The Command noted that six of the suspected cultists arrested at the Ibeju-Lekki area of the state had been responsible for attacks in Eti-Osa Local Government Area.
“The suspects arrested are Adeyemi Hassan, Adesoye Yusuf, Yusuf Sadiku, Isaila Adebanjo, an ex-convict and leader of Aye Confraternity, Mosuru Ojo, and Tajudeen Ramon,” he added.
The PPRO further revealed that the Commissioner of Police (CP), Lagos State Police Command, Hakeem Odumosu, has put all Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers in the state on their toes to ensure that the state is rid of cultism, crimes, and criminality.
“He further charged them to spread and embrace the principles of the Community Policing as conceptualized by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu, to have effective policing of their respective areas and the state at large.
“The CP has ordered for prompt Investigation and prosecution of the cases as necessary arrangements have been made by the Lagos State Government to consistently fast track judicial processes in the state,” the PPRO said.
While stating that the command will make Lagos State very hot for criminals, especially cultists, who terrorize the good people of the state, Adejobi said the command is ready to tackle and decimate criminals.
