PDP LG aspirant, promises to replicate Ugwuanyi’s performance in development

Less than 48 hours after the Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission (ENSIEC), released electoral timetable for the November 4, council poll in the state a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Chief Aniebonam Ezeugwu has declared his intention to contest the chairmanship position for Nsukka Local Government Area.

Ezeugwu while declaring his intention before the party executive promised to abide by the decisions of the party.

“As a loyal party member, I am in the party secretariat to tell the executives that I have the intension to contest the chairmanship primary in the forthcoming LGA council elections in the state.
“PDP members in my ward have given me their support that is why they left all their engagements to accompany me to the party office today.

“I am ready to abide by the party’s decision,” he said.
Aniebonam who led thousands of party supporters from his ward to the PDP party secretariat said he was in the race to replicate Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi’s performance at Nsukka Local Government Area.

“Past Nsukka council chairmen have done well, my mission is to replicate Governor Ugwuanyi’s performances in development at the state level in Nsukka Local Government Area.

“I will implement developmental projects in line with the vision of our amiable governor.

“I am not desperate in my pursuit to become Nsukka LG chairman, but pledge to render selfless service to my people,” he said.

While responding, the Chairman of the PDP in Nsukka LGA, Mr. Fabian Onah said the party would give all aspirants equal level playing ground before and during the party primary.

“PDP is one family and will give all aspirants same level playing ground to realise their ambitions.

“The crowd of people here today especially from your ward is a manifestation that you are a loyal party member; I wish you the best in your intention to become next chairman of Nsukka LGA.

“The primary will determine who will be the party candidate,” he said.

It would be recalled that the chairman of ENSIEC, Dr. Mike Ajogwu (SAN) had during the stakeholders meeting in Enugu on Tuesday released the Local Government council poll timetable in which councillorship and chairmanship election is fixed for Nov 4.
