Dexy Creation is emerging as one of the most promising brands within African fashion. Its growth is driven by the relentless effort and visionary leadership of designer Ibukunoluwa Oluleye.
Dexy Creation places sustainable ready-to-wear fashion, which is expertly designed with the use of up-cycled textiles at the centre of its vision and operations.
The brand also holds women empowerment close to it as part of its brand identity, as part of their mission to create impact in women-centric spaces through training programs and community outreach.
Their pieces speak of the excellence within the Dexy ranks, as their collections continue to wow fashion lovers at fashion shows that they participate in.
The head designer at Dexy Creations has come a long way over the years to get to this point. Ibukunoluwa Oluleye’s catalogue as a designer comprises inventive designs that go against the grain of orthodox fashion perspectives.
She has made a name for herself as a meticulous planner whose methods inspire her team to push for the highest standard in tailoring and fabric selection. Oluleye’s avant-garde approach to her designs has done well to set Dexy Creatoon apart from their peers within the fashion world.
Ibukunoluwa Oluleye has once again crafted a collection that speaks of her meticulous approach to bring her ideas to life. Dexy Creation debuted their Orente SS22 collection at The Epic Show, a showcase hosted by Fashion’s Finest Africa.
The event promotes emerging fashion entrepreneurs by giving them an opportunity to display their unique creative exploits on a big scale.
A fashion show of this magnitude aims to put young designers and brands on the fashion map, offering them exposure that bridges the gap of discovery and allows them to explore new ground. The Epic Show turned out to be a fantastic platform to show the expertise of Oluleye and the rest of the Dexy Creation team.
The Orente collection — named after a Yoruba word which means beautiful or loyal woman — feels as good to wear as it does to look at. The radiant pieces are made from batik and cotton, and elegance exuding from the models of the clothes makes the name “Orente” fitting for the collection.
The clothes within the collection include wide cut trousers and flowy kimonos, and they are characterised by a combination of Adire fabrics of different colours that look more wonderful together than they do separately.
The best part of this collection is that the colours are completely customizable, so pieces can be ordered in the colour of your choice.
The Orente collection is heavily rooted in African culture and tradition, and this is evident when you examine the name of the collection and the fabric choices. The showcase at Fashion’s Finest Africa’s The Epic Show turned out to be a great one, not just for the good reviews.
The theme of the event was “Culture to Couture” which the Orente collection seamlessly aligns with, turning the use of Adire fabric from cultural heritage to fashion statement. Ibukun Oluleye continues to make her mark within Africa and beyond with elite designs of this nature.
