The four Local Government in Southern Kaduna now under the supervision of OPSH are Sanga, Jema’a, Zango-Kataf and Kaura, which were before now, manned by 4 battalion under 1 division in Kaduna state.
In a brief handing over ceremony at the weekend, in Southern Kaduna, the Commander 4 battalion, Lt. Col. Hassan Muhammad Bello said 4 battalion has been nominated for a foreign mission by the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai, adding that the Army Chief dimmed it fit to hand over the four LGA in Southern Kaduna to OPSH, because of its proximity and accessibility to Jos.
Bello said the crisis situation in Plateau and Southern Kaduna such as cattle rustling, armed bandit and farmers herdsmen clash are similar, hence OPSH haven managed the situation successfully in Plateau will in no doubt contain the situation in Southern Kaduna.
Responding, the OPSH Commander, Major General Rogers Nicholas, said his command is resolute to sustain the peace in the region, saying that OPSH effort in Plateau will be doubled to contain any crisis in the area.
His words, “I and my men are not religious or partisan, we respect people’s institutions and traditions; we call for corporation and synergy from all stakeholders and also call on them to share useful information with us”, he said.
