Ondo State Signs MOU for Forest Development and Conservation

The Ondo state government and the WEWOOD Lid. signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on reviving the State Afforestation Project.

The MOU, which aims at establishing nursery facilities, prepare land, plant and maintain a Gmelina Aborea plantation at Afforestation in Omotoso, Okitipupa was signed on behalf of the state government by the Secretary to the State Government, Hon. Ifedayo Abegunde, while the Chairman, Mr. Yang Jijiang signed on behalf of the Company.

While speaking before the signing of the MoU, which was held in his Office, Alagbaka, Akure, the Secretary to the State Government, explained that the Oluwarotimi-led administration remains committed to reviving and repositioning agricultural sector of the economy.

He said the new administration will support individuals, corporate organizations that are willing to promote food production and agro allied activities, especially such that will lead to availability of food and job opportunities for the poeple of the State.

Hon. Abegunde, who was particularly delighted over the signing of the MoU, pointed out that the company will also go into cultivation and processing of groundnut in large scale and other relevant activities which will further enhance the economy development of the State.

While appreciating the management of the company for their commendable initiative in investing in the state, the goverment’s scribe admonished them not to disappoint the state government and the poeple of the State.

Speaking with the Managing Director of Klick Konnect Networks, the Consulting firm that facilitated the project, Chief Alex Ajipe said it is a landmark achievement for the government Arakunrin Akeredolu (SAN) in the area of Climatic change and forest conservation and it is premised upon Private Public Partnership.
