Okorocha warns leaders against utterances

Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State, last weekend, cautioned leaders in the country to shun actions and utterances that are capable of threatening the peace and unity of the country, stressing that the greatest threats to the nation’s unity are the political leaders who act in manners that pose a serious threat to the country’s unity.

Okorocha, who spoke at the 7th Convocation ceremony of the Imo State University Owerri (IMSU), for the conferment of Higher Degrees and Honourary Doctorate Degrees to deserving Nigerians, at the University’s convocation arena, stating that the ordinary citizens of the country have no problem living together as one people, regretting that it is political leaders who always engage in inciting utterances.

The governor said, “It was the high premium the state government and the authorities of the Imo State University place on the unity of the country that made the Institution to decide to honour the Niger State governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sanni Bello with Doctor of Business Administration Degree (Honoris Causa).”

Okorocha remarked, “The coming of the Niger State governor here today for this Honorary Doctorate Degree is a dramatization of the unity of the country. The governor came all the way from Niger state to Imo state with all his entourage. This means that there is now a good working relationship between his state, Niger and Imo state. I think we can build the Nigeria of our collective dreams and aspiration.”
