Ohaneze congratulates Buhari, requests apology from Nwodo to Igbo race

President General of the Ohaneze Ndigbo, Chief Nina Nwodo has once again found himself at receiving end of Nigeria’s political log jam following the insistence by the organisation that he should apologize to Ndigbo for misleading the race into supporting Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Meanwhile the body has congratulated President Muhammad Buhari on his victory in the last Presidential election.

According to the Secretary General of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Barr Uche Okwukwu who spoke to Reporters in Awka, “It is sad and very unfortunate that for the second time Ndigbo have put their eggs in one basket and this has ultimately reduced us to the status of a dispensable minority in the country.

“Buhari won the election with four hundred million votes and Ndigbo put together including the Igbo speaking Rivers State and Delta state could not make up to three million votes and that means that any presidential candidate can win without the votes of Ndigbo.

“This is what our suspended President General Chief Nwodo has caused us by trying to Lord his personal interest and support for Atiku Abubakar over the entire Igbo race.

“He has to apologise to our people for what he has done and never will an Ohaneze Ndigbo President allow himself to be used by desperate politicians who are all out to use us to achieve selfish goal.

“The Ohaneze Ndigbo here by congratulates President Muhammadu Buhari on his re-election for the second term in office and we know that the victory makes the push for a President of Nigeria from Igbo extraction a reality.

Okwukwu further said that “Buhari victory is a sure indication that the second Niger Bridge would be completed as well as Enugu- Port Harcourt road and the railways project to link up Onitsha and other parts of the South East.

He noted that Ndigbo must begin now to reintegrate themselves into the national politics for the purposes of posterity.
