ODIEC assures of free, fair LG polls

The Ondo State Independent Electoral Commission (ODIEC) has reiterated its readiness to conduct a free and fair local government election billed to hold on the 23rd of April 2016.

The Commission also assured electorates in the State of adequate safety of their properties during and after the forthcoming council poll.

Prof. Gbenga Ige, State Chairman of the Commission, who disclosed this on Wednesday to journalists in Akure, the state capital, added that 10,000 ad hoc staff would be trained for the smooth conduct of the exercises.

Ige said the commission has mapped out strategy that would help ensure the voters in the State exercise their franchise without entertaining any fear during the local government election.

He disclosed that there is need for the electorates to troop out en mass in their numbers to vote the preferred candidate of their choice in the April council poll, adding that measures are being put in place to ensure hitch free elections.

“All heads of the security agencies in the State would be fully involved to ensure the properties of citizens are fully protected”, he said.
