Obiano tasks Christians on propagation of the Gospel

…As Cardinal Arinze dedicates Aguleri Church
Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, has urged Christians to propagate the gospel of Jesus Christ at all times, irrespective of circumstances.
Governor Obiano said this during re-dedication of St. Joseph’s Catholic Parish, Aguleri, Anambra East Local Government Area.
The dedication came after reconstruction of the Church by Governor Obiano.
The foundation stone of the Church was laid in 1937 by Fr. Joseph Thomas Delaney in honour of four missionaries, who worked, died and were buried in Aguleri.
The building was completed and opened for use in April 1940, while Blessed Rev. Fr. Michael Iwene Tansi became the Parish Priest in 1949 before he travelled out to Rome in 1950.
Obiano noted that he was spurred to undertake the reconstruction of the church as part of his quota in the dissemination of the Christian faith.
He urged Christians to embrace almsgiving, love, especially rendering help to the needy as these would offer them everlasting life.
In his homily, His Eminence, Francis Cardinal Arinze, described church as an abode of God, the body of Christ as well as the people and followers of God.
Cardinal Arinze observed that Christians were expected to express love to God and to one another.
While commending Governor Obiano for his commitment to the service of God, he urged the people to remain peaceful and focused in serving the Almighty.
Member representing Onitsha 2 in Anambra State House of Assembly, Mr. Eddy Ibuzo, expressed satisfaction at the standard of work done in the Church.
Ibuzo urged other well-meaning individuals to embrace humanitarian services and invest in building God’s projects as well as undertaking human development.
He commended Governor Obiano for his initiative and dedication toward investing in the house of God.
The blessing of the church and official hand-over of the church by Governor Obiano to Cardinal Arinze was part of the events to mark the event.
