Oba of Benin receives NACCIMA president, sues for greater collaboration

The Oba of Benin has charged the leadership of the Nigeria Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) to look into ways of developing agro-allied industries in Edo State.
Oba Ewuare II gave the charge when the National President of NACCIMA, Mrs. lyalode Alaba- Lawson in company of the President of Benin Chambers of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture (BENCCIMA) paid him a courtesy visit in his Palace.
The Benin monarch expressed delight over the visit which according to him is coming at a time the Palace is seeking ways to improve on the economic status of the people.
His Royal Majesty said NACCIMA has made history by having its first female national president, and described the president as a lady of substance and intelligence.
Oba Ewuare II thanked the NACCIMA president for recognising the important role of traditional rulers in the society, and wondered why there is no role carved out for traditional rulers in the Nigerian Constitution.
The Benin monarch sued for greater collaboration between the Palace and NACCIMA and wished them well in all their endeavours.
Earlier, National President of NACCIMA, Mrs. lyalode Alaba-Lawson, informed His Royal Majesty that they were in Benin City for their Annual-General Meeting, hence they decided to come to pay homage to the Oba of Benin as well as solicit for Royal blessings.
The NACCIMA President said the desire to continue to drive trade and commerce in the county is top most in the agenda of NACCIMA and BENCCIMA, pointing out that Edo State being a business hub, NACCIMA will work closely with the Palace to turn the fortune of business in the state for the better.
Mrs. Alaba-Lawson disclosed that NACCIMA was partnering with international community and organisations to help train youths and artisans in various fields, and called for the resuscitation of technical colleges in Nigeria to actualise the goal of self-reliant and sustainability.
High point of the visit was the formal decoration of the Oba of Benin as a Life Ambassador of NACCIMA as well as the presentation of plaque to Oba Ewuare II.
