Nigeria disappoints at Star Sixes tourney

Nigeria’s participation at the first Star Sixes tournament at the London O2 Arena came to a shuddering stop at the quarterfinal stage after a comprehensive 8-1 defeat by Spain on Saturday.

The team, led by Austin ‘Jay Jay’ Okocha, had qualified for the quarterfinals as one of the best third-placed finishers in the group stages.

Spain have been one of the fittest sides from day one and their players look like they are still good enough to play at the top level.

World Cup winners like Carlos Marchena, Joan Capdevilla and Carles Puyol looked at ease and they had just as fit players on the bench ready to replace tiring limbs.
