NEIFA mourns Emetole

An association called Nigeria Ex-International Footballers Association (NEIFA) based in United States of America has expressed shock at the demise of one of Nigeria’s ex-internationals, Kelechi Emteole, who died recently in India.
President of NEIFA, Francis Moniedafe, described the demise of the man popularly called “Caterpillar” as one death too many!
“Caterpillar is no more and we in NEIFA are in deep shock. Late Emetole was a versatile footballer and could play anywhere on the field. May his gentle soul Rest in Perfect Peace.
“On behalf of NEIFA I send our heartfelt condolences on the death of Nigeria’s super utility player of all time.
“He will be missed and we pray God gives his family the fortitude to bear the great loss,” he said.
Kelechi Emetole who hails from Isiukwuato in Abia State played for the defunct Spartans FC of Owerri, Enugu Rangers and was a member of the Green Eagles squad that played the 1976 Africa Cup of Nations. He assisted Sebastian Broderick to win the FIFA U-16 World Cup in 1985.
He also assisted Shuaibu Amodu in the Super Eagles and handled the first Beach Soccer team to the Beach soccer tournament in South Africa few years ago.
