Union Bank camp in Ibadan ahead Hockey League

Ahead of this year’s Hockey Super league in Abuja, Union Bank men’s Hockey team of Lagos have began close camping in the Oyo State capital of Ibadan between July 7 and 14, 2017.

The Stallions were runners up to Niger Flickers last year and they believe a stronger team would emerge to grab the title in Abuja this time after fine-tuning in Ibadan.

Speaking ahead of the Hockey Super League, captain of Union Bank, Okwudil Menyei said they are determined to justify the huge moral and financial support for them by management through winning the 2017 Hockey Title.

Menyei stated that he and his colleagues would leave no stone unturned, adding that winning the 2017 Lead City University 5-A – Side title on Sunday at Ibadan was a morale booster towards the national Hockey Super League in Abuja.

Before Sunday’s victory, defending champions Union Bank were victorious in Group A games against Team Lagos, Oyo and Ekiti States before outclassing Dynamite Scoopers of Osun State and Young Stead’s of Ogun State 4-1, 4-3 in semi final games.

Meanwhile, Extra Time gathered that apart from Union Bank camping in Ibadan, Niger Flickers are presently in Abuja training while Yobe and Nigeria Police teams are also strategizing in Damaturu and Kaduna for the July 7 to 14 tourney.
