NCC To Commence Award Of Contracts

The Nigeria Communication Commission (NCC) on Tuesday said it would soon commence the award of contracts following the recent approval of its 2016 budget by the National Assembly.
Executive Vice Chairman of the Commission, Prof. Umar Graba Danbatta, gave the hint when he received members of the Senate Committee on Communication on an oversight function to the NCC headquarters in Abuja.

The EVC was reacting to the Committee’s Vice Chairman, Senator Olamilekan Solomon Adoela, remark on the need by the Commission to ensure early submission of its 2017 budget proposal in order to enable the senate work on it for quick passage.

Danbatta informed  the Committee that NCC has since submitted its 2017 budget online with provisions of its Act which stipulates that the commission must submit its budgets latest by 30th September,saying “what NCC normally does is to track its annual budgets and ensure that it gets to the appropriate office in the National Assembly.  We are about to start implementing the 2016 budget which was recently passed by both houses in the National Assembly, we are waiting for approval for procurement from the Presidency and once we get that approval we will commence the ward of contracts,” he stated.

Danbatta also stated that measures have been put in place to check mate multiple registration of sim cards .
