Membership of Occultic group set family apart in Edo State

The problem of inhumanity to man in Nigeria has reached a worrisome dimension because hardly a day passes without hearing the menace in the society. It is becoming rampant in all the sphere of life in the country.

Regrettably, there is inhumanity to man in almost all the places of worship even in Government offices and many other aspect of life. But there is a fundamental human rights enshrined in Nigeria’s 1999 Constitution as amended in Section 36 to 39 which includes the right to life, association and worship.

It is so disheartening that some worship places harbour hatred for their fellow members. Those who can not fit in, quietly leave their worship centers for others. This pathetic situation is not limited to the Christian and lslamic worship centers only, but also in other places of worship, this include associations whose membership ordinarily are supposed to be voluntary. But it has become by force, even traditional headship hereditary inclusive.

One can commonly see these days a situation where it becomes a tradition for occultic fathers to pencil down their son to takeover from them. These are some of the reasons in most cases you hardly see a surviving first son of a demised head of a occultic group. They are most especially first son’s of occultic head and members of various occultic groups who are not left out because they will be after the life of their would-be members who rejected their advances to become a member of their occult group.
It is more common with those who embrace other faith and this write-up is focused on these anomalies in our society.

This situation is very common in Edo State to the extent that there is hardly a day that passes in Idumoza community in Esan North East local government area Uromi Edo State without tales of people forced to be occultic members

A case is the family of one Mr Esene Benson who was the head of the occultic deities in their community. Augustine’s father, Mr Esene Benson was said to have pencil down his son, Esene Augustine Odion that upon his demise he should takeover the headship of the shrine, a situation Esene Augustine Odion however rejected stating that he is a Christian and because of that he cannot worship such a barbaric traditional practice.

It was gathered that the deceased wife who is Esene Augustine Odion mother supported his son not to have anything to do with such ungodly practice,. It was revealed that immediately after Augustine mother position on the issue was made known to her late husband occultic group that her son will never accept to become the head of their occultic shrine trouble started with Augustine and his mother.

Because they rejected the decision of his late father, the deceased wife and his son started receiving several death threats from various angles. Following the messages they were receiving which became worrisome they ran to the police, thereafter they reported the matter to the law enforcement agency. Though the threats kept coming, investigations revealed that nothing positive came out of the case from the law enforcement agency.

This development, multiple sources said never went down well with the occultic members who vehemently opposed the decision of Augustine and the mother, hence, a battle line was drawn between them.

However, they are not relenting in their effort and determination to wipe out the entire family from the surface of the earth.

Recently the occultic members allegedly invaded Esene Augustine Odion residence with the intent to kill him, but his whereabouts could not be ascertained by the people as at the time of this report.
