LAWMAKER SEEKS CREATION OF SPECIAL COURTS FOR OFFENDERS

Former Governor of Kano State and current Chairman Senate Committee on Works, Kabiru Gaya says his decision to sponsor a bill seeking to establish special courts to try corruption and money laundering cases is to further strengthen the ongoing fight against corruption by the Buhari Administration. He stated this while speaking with journalists after a closed meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari.
Evolving legislation that will give additional bites to the anti corruption war of the current administration has been a task the two chambers of the National Assembly have been strategising towards. Speaking to State House Correspondents shortly after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Senator Gaya regrets delays in the prosecution of corruption cases in the country.
He says special courts for corruption cases will speed up justice delivery in that area. He maintains that prosecuting and successful conviction of people who engage in acts of corruption will serve as a deterrent to others.
