Group seeks sincerity in Buhari’s fight against corruption

A political group known as “I stand by Saraki team”, has urged President Muhammdu Buhari to be sincere in his administration’s fight against injustice and corruption.

The group gave the advice in a statement signed by Prince Yusuf Gambari and Alhaja Sarah Adebayo, a copy of which was made available to the Daily Times in Ilorin, Kwara State, on Tuesday.

It noted that “the current persecution of the Senate President, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki, was as a result of abuse of power by some top chieftains of the All Progressives Congress, who have been using the offices of some highly placed politicians to bring Saraki to disrepute”.

The group urged Buhari to stick to his widely quoted phrase of “I belong to everybody and I belong to nobody”.

It further Buhari to guard against allowing Nigeria “to be controlled like a one-man state, it is Nigeria for all well – wishers”.

It added: “It is our belief that the political persecution of the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki is a storm that will soon come to an end.

“It is a deliberate action of some self-centered, egoistic political bosses to tarnish the image of a leader who is known to be of a good background.

“It is surprising that a man who has been in senate for the last five years could be called now for what he has been cleared off before in year 2003, 2007, 2011 and 2014 by EFCC/CCT”.
