Gov. Bello commends early arrival of electoral materials
Niger State Governor, Abubakar Bello and his wife, Dr Amina Bello, on Saturday voted at the Alkali Mustapha polling centre in Kontagora Local Government Area of the state.
Jide Orintunsin, Media and Publicity Coordinator to the Governor said in Minna that the governor commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for early arrival of electoral materials.
He lauded the level of maturity, organisation and calmness displayed at the polling center by both electoral officers and the voters.
“I am impressed with the level of maturity and calmness in this polling unit. I hope all other polling centers will be like this. If other polling units turn out to be like this, then there is a great improvement over what we had in the past and it means Nigeria has come of age.
“If the standard is maintained all over the country, very soon we will progress and our elections will come without any controversies,” he said.
Bello, however, noted that the ballot papers were a bit confusing due to the number of political parties on the ballot, stressing that uninformed voters may be confused in selecting the party of their choice.
He then advised the people to take their time and be patient to identify the party of their choice.
“One thing I noticed while casting my vote is that the ballot paper is a bit confusing with so many parties on the ballot papers. So if you are not careful you may vote the wrong party.
“So my advice is for the electorates to take their time and not rush, they should be patient and go through the ballot paper carefully and identify the party of their choice,” he added,” he said.
