Fresh Search for Indomie Heroes Begin

There is no gain saying that service to humanity supersede all forms of services.  People are losing touch with one another, the motivation to help, to encourage or to recognize heroism most especially at the grass root is fast going in to extinction. Yet it is central to what forms the essentials of a happy fulfilled life.

This is not unconnected with what Indomie brand meant when the brand handlers in an attempt to make the society where it does business, a better place came up with Indomie Independent Day Award Initiative.  The award is for heroes of Nigeria, instituted in 2008, a corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative of Dufil Prima Foods Plc makers of Indomie Instant Noodles.

Speaking to newsmen at the 8th edition of Indomie Independent Day Award press conference recently in Lagos, the Group Managing Director, Dufil Prima Foods PLC. Mr. Deepak Singhal said that, “the award is significant because it is rooted in the recognition of those whose best efforts are very often overlooked. Adding that on a daily basis, our beloved Nigerian children perform thousands of heroic acts that save the lives and properties of others at great personal risk to themselves.  But the reality is that such acts of bravely often go unsung because the players involved are minors.”

According to him, “so far, a total 21 children have received the awards and have their names engraved in gold in our hall of fame as heroes of Nigeria and we are about to start the process of discovering another set of heroic children”.

He added that “the initiative is in line with the core values and deep rooted belief of our company and the brand that every child indeed possesses an innate ability to achieve greatness.”

Also speaking, the public relations and event manager, Dufil Prima Foods Plc. Tope Ashiwaju, pointed out that, 2015 edition marks the 8th of the laudable initiative, stressing that the three heroes that will emerge during this edition will be awarded with educational scholarship worth the sum of N1,000,000.00, 750,000.00 and 500,000.00 respectively.

According to him, Indomie Award is a national event which attracts participation from all Geo Political zones across the country, especially the key cities, adding that, the event is tied to the Independent Day celebration, and it will hold on the first week of October.

On the selection process, he said that Independent  Research Agencies are commissioned to identify/seek out, collect and verify true stories from the field (Pan Nigeria) about children who have at one time or the other exhibited acts of heroism/bravery to become deserving recipients of the award.
