Former police Affairs minister dissociates self from plot to replace Buhari
A former minister of Police Affairs, Dr. Yakubu Lame, has distanced himself from a report that he wants to replace President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019.
A national daily had come out with a story that “Ex Generla, ministers move to replace Buhari in 2019 was to save democracy.”
Dr Lame said the issue of replacing the current President was never in the agenda of the meeting he attended.
The former minister who is currently the Chairman, Nigeria Airspace Management Authority (NAMA) said he believes in the leadership of his party, the APC.
“I am surprised that this is what has been reported.
This group I know it exists, I attended their first meeting but in that meeting the issue of replacing the current president was never in the agenda”, he clarified.
Lame further said, “it was never brought as an agenda and since that meeting I have never attended any of their meeting.
Therefore, I want to disassociate myself from that agenda. I am not part of that agenda”.
The NAMA Chairman who maintained that he will work within the framework of his party to make sure a credible president is produced said he was not party to any discussion on alternative to replace President Muhammadu Buhari come 2019.
“Our party is in the process of producing a candidate for 2019 and one candidate has already indicated his intention, that is President Muhammadu Buhari.
“And I believe many more may indicate their interest, so as far as I am concerned, I am with the programme of my party”, Lame pointed out.
The former minister who vowed to respect the decision of his party did not disassociate himself self from participating in the first meeting which was called of ‘like minds’, but however said the meeting never discussed the issue of replacing the current leadership of APC.
