Some leaders of the South-West geopolitical zone have engaged two of the presidential candidates for the February 25th election.

The presidential candidates were drilled over their plans to rule Nigeria from May 2023.

The event, organised in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, by the South-West Development Stakeholders Forum, featured two presidential candidates; Kola Abiola of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) and Omoyele Sowore of the African Action Congress (AAC).

The event was organised for dialogue and critique of their intended programmes in relation to the South-West region.

The PRP presidential candidate, who is one of the sons of the acclaimed winner of the June 12th 1993 presidential election, Chief Mashood Kasimawo Olawale Abiola, in his submission explained that his administration would practice true federalism when elected.

He added that his government would grant local government autonomy and foster meaningful development at the grassroots.

Abiola, while addressing the gathering, insisted that the cocoa industry which was the mainstay of the South-West region in the past would be revamped.

Sowore, on his part, identified insecurity, power shortage and hunger as the major problems confronting the country, promising to expand the scope of operation of the Western Nigeria Security Network (WNSN) also known as Amotekun.

He added that this was necessary to cut down the excesses of other security outfits in the country.
