Ekiti 2018: Ojo receives Ekiti APC elders’ blessings

…vows to prioritize their welfare

The All Progressives Congress(APC) governorship hopeful in Ekiti State, Engr Kayode Ojo, has assured Ekiti APC Elders that he would tap from their wealth of experience by giving them pivotal roles to play in his government if he gets the party’s nod.

Engr Ojo who stated this during his visit to the elders said he quite appreciated the enormous roles the elders had played, and which they have continued to play in the state that made the party to stand tall in Ekiti and promised to set machineries in his government that will look after their welfare and enhance their relevance in the state.

While commending the elders for the roles they have played to make the party stand tall since it becomes opposition in the state, the governorship aspirant urged the party to encourage the elders by engaging them in leadership positions and decision making for smooth running of the party.

According to him, “It is only a fool that would throw mud at old age. Old age is about
wisdom, experience and relevance which cannot be wished away anywhere. I will treat our elders with utmost respect, because in any political structure, elders must be given freedom to play advisory roles they are expected to play.

“I won’t be a governor that will muzzle the elders, bully them or relegate them, such governor won’t succeed. As a person who wants to make tremendous impact as a governor, I will do my best to give our elders their right of place in the running of government. You are
relevant and nobody can underestimate that”, he said.

Ekiti Elders’ Forum’s meeting, held in Igbara odo and chaired by Elder Yemi Alade however commended Ojo for giving them their due recognition, and wished him success in his restoration mission.

The elders who prayed for him and promised their support for him, pointed out that having been brought up in a reputable family with good records in the state, they hoped that he will not let them, the party, and Ekiti people down if given the mandate.

The body who urged Ojo not to forget his promises for the elders noted that they would not give support to aspirant that would after becoming governor start muzzling the body, adding that Ekiti deserves leaders who will not disrespect the elders.

“As we speak now, many of us are pensioners and our pension is not being paid as and when due. So, we won’t allow our rights to be taken away in APC. We will defend it by standing by an aspirant that will see us as a force to be reckoned with”, they said.
