Delta state Gov to take over Tsekelewu, Oporoza cottage hospitals

The Delta state government has agree to take over the operations of the two Cottage hospitals at Tsekelewu and Oporoza communities built by the Egbema and Gbaramatu Communities Development Foundation, EGCDF through the sponsorship of Chevron Nigeria Limited for the people of the riverine communities to have access to good health facilities.

It would be recalled that the communities through their leader, Comrade Jude Ukori, had last week appealed to the Delta state government to take over and provide personnel for the cottage hospitals at Oporoza and Tsekelewu communities in Warri South West and Warri North Local Government Areas in the state.

In response to the plea, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa revealed yesterday that the commissioner of health in the state, Dr. Nicholas Azinge has been directed to examine the hospitals and make a programme for the possible takeover of the hospitals in no distance time.

Governor Okowa, represented by the Chief of Staff, Government House, Mr. Tams Brisibe, during the commissioning of projects at Gbaramatu and Egbema communities in Warri South West and North Local Government Areas of the state, said the state government is ready to cater for the essential needs of the Egbema and Gbaramatu people.

The governor thanked members of the EGCDF for embarking on essential projects that are dear to members of the communities, adding that the projects will no doubt compliments the state government SMART agenda.

He noted that the state government made enough provision for youths in Delta in the new budget, saying that several youths will be empowered in various skills through the Skills Training and Entrepreneurship Programme, STEP and Youth Agricultural Entrepreneurs Programme, YAGEP.
