Decomposed corpse found opposite Obowo police station

A decomposing corpse was found last week in a gutter opposite Obowo Police station, Otoko, by passersby who perceived the odour of the corpse. The corpse of the young man likely to be in his late 20s shows that he was burnt and dropped in the gutter by unknown people. The corpse, which might have stayed not less than one week started emitting bad odour, disturbing the people in that area, especially the Obowo Police station and Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corp (NSCDC), Obowo branch, whose office are directly opposite the place. At the time of this report Daily Times met some Health workers from Obowo Local Government Area, who were preparing a shallow grave to bury the corpse, in a nearby bush. The Health workers who came with a policeman said they formally informed the police before taking action. It will be recalled that in less than three weeks, this is the fourth mysterious corpse in Obowo L.G.A Imo state, since a former Deputy Commissioner and his wife were murdered in cold blood at Umuokeh Obowo; a week later, a commuter bus driver was shot and killed at Umuariam Obowo.
