Coronavirus confirmed at Victorian meat plant

Coronavirus has been confirmed at Victorian meat processing plant.
It has recorded seven new cases of since yesterday bringing the state’s total number of cases to 1371.
Three of the new cases relate to an outbreak at a meat processing facility where a total of eight people have been infected.
The outbreak is being investigated and all staff are being tested.
The business has been closed and is undergoing a deep clean.
Victorian Health Minister Jenny Mikakos said there were no concerns about food safety.
Of the seven new cases, one other person is in hotel quarantine and the others are isolating at home.
Ms Mikakos encouraged Victorians to get tested if they are feeling unwell.
“We know that the vast majority of people will only exhibit mild symptoms so its vital people get tested to keep your family, loved ones and the wider community safe,” she said.

“The more tests we do, the more data we collected and the better position we will be in to consider reopening businesses on May 11,” she said.
Victoria currently has 12 people in hospital and seven in ICU.

So far, 1300 Victorians have recovered after becoming infected by the virus.
The state’s death toll remains at 18.
