Card readers malfunction in FCT

As Nigerians get set to cast their vote today, several cases of card readers malfunction were reported in various polling units in some parts of the Federal Capital Territory in the Presidential and National Assembly Elections. Some of the polling units include PU 009 in Wuse Zone 3 Government Secondary School and PU 001, Tudun Wada Government Secondary Schoo in Abuja where the card readers malfunctioned before being rectified. Some of the voters who expressed their disappointment due to the development however stated that they were determine to stay and cast their vote. At PU 009, Mr Stephen Iyodo, a voter from Dede, Zuba, told newsmen that he was willing to exercise patience while the issue was being resolved. “I got here and was told to stand aside while they sort it out. Whatever it takes, we have to be patient”. Another voter who identified herself as Mrs. Easter Daniels said she was disappointed that after the assurance by the Independent and National Electoral Commission INEC, they were still experiencing such hitches. “INEC said they were ready for this election. I wonder why this is happening. Aside bringing the electoral materials late, the card readers are malfunctioning.” I am not discourage at all. I have made-up my mind to vote. I will stay here and see things to the end”, she added. The turnout of Nigerians was impressive as voters turned out in large numbers at both centres to exercise their rights. Verification started at 8:09 a.m. at PU 009 while it was already ongoing at PU 001.
Security men, party agents and local and foreign observers were also seen at the polling units carrying on with their job on a civil manner.
