Buhari to receive African Award for Strengthening Peace in Nouakcott

.Hails Minister of State, Budget on South Korean National Award

President Muhammadu Buhari will tomorrow (Tuesday), January 18, receive “African Award for Strengthening Peace’’ in Nouakchott, Islamic Republic of Mauritania, for his leadership role in promoting peace on the continent, through regular inventions, counsels and conciliatory position.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina.

The award will be presented to President Buhari by the Abu Dhabi Peace Forum, which is an assembly of leaders established in 2014 to pursue new ways to embrace inclusive citizenship, promote lasting peace, and work towards a safer and more sustainable world for everyone.

Before the international recognition for serving Nigeria, and the larger interest of peace in Africa, the President will participate in the Programme of the Third Forum of the African Conference for Peace, where he will deliver a speech on milestones and gains in the African peace process.

President Buhari will depart for Nouakchott on Monday and return Wednesday, accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, Minister of Defence, Maj. Gen. Bashir Salihi Magashi, National Security Adviser, Maj. Gen. Mohammed B. Monguno and Director General of the National Intelligence Agency, Amb. Ahmed Rufai Abubakar.

In another development, President Buhari has felicitated with the Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, Prince Clem Agba, on the conferment of the National Award of the Order of Diplomatic Service by the President of the Republic of South Korea.

In a statement signed by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, the President notes that the Award is in recognition of the Minister’s personal achievements and contributions to strengthening the ties between Nigeria and the Republic of South Korea.

The President recognizes the experienced administrative management skills, charisma and leadership of the Minister in repositioning the budget and national planning ministry toward effectively delivering its mandate.

He commends the Minister for diligent commitment to national planning, early budget submission to the National Assembly and strengthening the Department of Monitoring and Evaluation in the Ministry in order to effectively drive the National Monitoring and Evaluation process.

In welcoming the prestigious award bestowed on Prince Agba by President Yoon Suk-Yeol of South Korea, President Buhari reaffirms the importance of Nigeria -Korea Development Cooperation as the cornerstone to expand bilateral coordination and global engagement on shared goals of peace, security, sustainable development and prosperity.
