Body charges Buhari on rapid transformation of aviation sector

Following the re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari, the Coordinator, Ahmadu Bello Coalition for Good Governance, Alhaji Abdulyekeen Umar has called for a rapid transformation of the country’s aviation sector by putting round pegs in round holes.

Umar made this disclosure in an interview with The Daily Times in Lagos, adding that the respondent said the call became necessary following some unhealthy practices in the aviation sector.

According to him, there was a need to restructure the management system of all the agencies to ensure maximum operation and output in the system.

He also called for proper funding of the industry to ensure that adding that the industry was capable of driving the economy when adequately positioned.

Umar remarked that there were leakages in some of the parastatals stressing that action needed to be taken to block them.

Umar urged the government to halt the proposed movement of parastatals to Abuja from Lagos saying it was unnecessary at this and suggested the proper monitoring of the sector.

He urged President Buhari to appoint only capable hands to run the government in order to succeed saying that Nigerians were suffering in the midst of plenty as a result of bad management of some federal agencies.

Umar advised Nigerians to rally round President Buhari in order to salvage the country noting that the economy will gradually improve when there the citizens do the right things.

According to Umar “Nobody will build a nation for us here, we are the ones to build our nation to make it flourish. This is what Buhari stands for. Sixteen years of PDP is still haunting us and it will take another twenty years to recover.”
